Service Description

Why do we sneeze? Can you hear an explosion in space? What is air and why do we need it? These are examples of serious and silly questions that learners will be encouraged to come up with and find answers to. Learners will also have opportunities to learn about the scientific method, coding, as well as develop petitions to convince a group of people to support their ideas. In TMBUK2 Literacy Clubs, learners can expect to engage in any of the following: • Receive and read engaging novels and texts; • Participate in thoughtfully moderated discussions, dialogues and/or debates; • Complete and collaborate in literacy activities that cater to varying intelligences and abilities • Conduct STEAM activities, experiments, or observations • Develop motivation, confidence and critical thinking skills Notes and Terms • This literacy club consists of 8 one hour sessions • Literacy Kits, novels, and key materials for activities will be provided • Fee for literacy club is non-refundable • Schedule is final and sessions cannot be rescheduled
